Monday Delights #12: “Amazing,” Buds, Deer

These adorable babies are a bit of “Kawaii,” because, you know, just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other? Awww… who doesn’t adore a Bambi-like fawn!

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

This is Women’s History Month. In 1911, it was just a day (March 8.) Now it’s a whole month.. Today’s quote is from the child-woman, Mendala.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

Here’s a few other things that delighted me this week:

Signs of spring: I called Loved-One to the window. “Look, there’s buds on the tulip tree.” He called me to the yard, “Look a lone crocus bloom in the grass.” And there’s a robin. The snowdrops are poking through. So delightful. And today it will be almost warm enough not to wear a jacket.

Deer in the backyard: This morning I could delight in a family. What looks like a set of yearling twins and their mother pranced through the backyard before I had my PJs off. I sprayed the flower buds with some deer repellant yesterday evening, so I can relax and just enjoy. Oh look here, another mother with a yearling joins. The mothers tussle. “I told you to leave my kids alone.” One mother paws at the other when nips back. “Now where did they go?” The three yearlings scampered away together. Kids!

Amazing College Friends.” I’m not a big sports fan. Loved-One is. Plus, he’s a loyal Illini alum. So when he asked me to view this video, I acquiesced. Oh my! Now that was delightful. I watched these two a few times and shared it with friends. Amazing.

I hope you find delight this week.

I know it makes me feel better to jot down a few things and remind myself how much delight I have in my life.

I’m fully vaccinated now. Loved-One gets his first dose today. Right before he kisses me goodbye at the train station. I’m on my way to see Mom. I’ll still be wearing my mask in solidarity with those who are yet to be jabbed and to keep those pesky variants at bay.

In the meantime, don’t forget to practice the five Ws:

  • Wear a mask;
  • Watch your distance,
  • Wash your hands, and
  • Work together to overcome hesitancy.
  • And Win this war.

How about you? What absolutely filled you with delight this week? Please share. Chances are you will delight me!
