Monday Delights #17: Lost & Found, Lorenddbopper, Labels

Another little kitten as a bit of “Kawaii,” because, you know, just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other. Awwww…. So sweet.

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

April is National Month of Hope. Mothers In Crisis, Inc. founded National Month of Hope to help spread hope around the world.  This is the last week of Hope Quotes.

I really like this quote because it acknowledges pain while emphasizing the power of hope.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

Here’s a few other things that delighted me this week:

Head scratching instructions: Here’s one we found on a package of turkey bacon. Well, this presents a quandary. Better stay out of the kitchen.

Lost & Found:

“I know I have ginger,” I said to Loved-One. I have two drawers full of spice and herbs. Neatly arranged. And a little shelf on the counter for the frequently used ones. For some reason, Loved-One can often see things invisible to me. We searched everywhere, to no avail. Or we thought we did..

I vaguely remember CoCo had a recipe that required ginger. “I wouldn’t give her the whole bottle.”

“Maybe you did.” Loved-One called CoCo. No ginger.

“Put it on the list, along with snack-sized bags.” I pointed to the empty box in the drawer.

“Did you put that there for my benefit?”

There sat the recalcitrant bottle of ginger. Right where I put it after measuring a couple teaspoons into a bag for CoCo’s recipe.

“Uh, no.” I said. “Did you?”

I’m pretty sure things become invisible when they are not where they belong.

Lorenddpopper: I’m still smiling at his comment last week. There can be only one Lorenddpopper. And I can’t get the image of him and his wife prancercizing across their back yard.

He’s the same guy who’s still sending me birthday cards, when my birthday is long gone. I love that he’s thinking of me at odd times. I added them to my circle of cards. Maybe I’ll keep them up until Christmas. Celebrating another decade should last for more than a month, don’t you think?

I hope you find delight this week.

I know it makes me feel better to jot down a few things to remind myself how much delight I have in my life.

I live in a state that has almost 45% of its population with at least one dose of vaccine. Once we reach 50%, we’ll enter Phase 5, “Illinois Restored.” I hope I haven’t forgotten how to live in the pre-pandemic world.

In the meantime, several states see surge, including my county. And what’s happening in India makes me weep. We need 80% of people with antibodies to be at herd immunity.

In the meantime, don’t forget to practice the five Ws:

  • Wear a mask;
  • Watch your distance,
  • Wash your hands, and
  • Work together to overcome hesitancy.
  • And Win this war.

It’s okay to wear your mask, even if those around you are not. Even if you’re vaccinated, wearing a mask shows we’re all in this together.

How about you? What absolutely filled you with delight this week? Please share. Chances are you will delight me!
