Monday Delights #25: Frogs, Songs, and Line Drives

Here’s a bit of “Kawaii.” Awww.. Who doesn’t love a little kitten? Just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other and these two surely warmed my heartstrings. June is also National Adopt a Cat Month, so guess what photos I’m picking for a bit of Kawaii this month?

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

June is Pride Month. June because that’s when the Stonewall Riots took place in 1969. The Stonewall Inn in New York City on June 28, 1969. The bar had a reputation for being friendly to the LGBT community.

June is a time for remembering those who paved the way for the LGBTQA community and who continue to do so. It’s a time for education and breaking down barriers, too.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

Here’s a few things that delighted me this week:

Frogs in a huddle: Okay, yes, another picture of my water garden. Loved-One loves the frogs. I counted over 14 the other day. Something new delighted me. At least six new frogs, two with tail stubs still receding, snuggled all up against each other. I had to get Loved-One to tiptoe to the edge of the pond. The whole wriggly scene delighted him, too. And what compounds delight? Sharing it with someone who gets even more delights.

I see four here, how many can you count?

Line Drive Triple: On our way to Mr. C’s Little League game, Loved-One said,

“Do you think he’ll ever learn to hit?”

Of course he will. I know he has some problems with spatial cross-over, but he’ll get there.

Imagine our delight when that line-drive triple was slammed out there by none other than Mr. C.

“That’s the best hit I’ve seen this season!” exclaimed Loved-One.

We didn’t even realize it was Mr. C until he ran across home plate and high-fived his coach and Mom, CeCe. Oh my! Triple delight! Mr. C also got a chance to pitch!

Birds singing good morning: A friend of mine said to me this week, “Imagine if we greeted the morning like the birds; just happy for a new day.” I decided to take her literally. As soon as I get up, I step out on the balcony and listen to the birds. This morning, it was like a jungle out there. Happy birds, greeting a wet morning. We so needed the rain. I needed the reminder that there is so much to be happy about.

Good morning world. Thank you for so many delights.

The more I look for things that delight me, the more I seem delighted. There’s so much in the world that makes me smile.

I hope you find delight this week.

I know it makes me feel better to jot down a few things to remind myself how much delight I have in my life.

This week I’m attending a writers’ conference. We were supposed to meet in San Antonio, but instead, the conference is virtual. A reminder that the pandemic is not quite behind us.

That, and the Delta variant is climbing in dominance.

If you were hesitant, I hope you find reasons to put your fear aside in favor of protecting yourself and others. Some people are too young, others are immune-compromised or have other medical issues. Let’s be neighborly and protect those that can’t get vaccinated.

We’re in the final battles. At least in this country we’re making headway. Still, we have a ways to go for the world to get there.

I hope this week brings you delight upon delight.

Please share. Chances are you will delight me!
