Pause, Breathe, and Take Stock: 2017-19

(I know, not a lilac, but still, a gorgeous flower.)

If you follow my posts, you know that my brother had bypass surgery.  He’s home and recovering remarkably well.  Besides the genetic and emotional link to my brother, he’s almost the same age as Loved-One.  A pragmatic Wrestler #2 said, Well, if a man makes it through their sixties, he has a good chance of living a long life.  (Gee thanks, for the encouraging look at the next generation, son.) Can I start by saying I’m lucky to have people that tell it like it is?

Here’s a few more things worth celebrating:

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””]  A mostly overcast weekend that prodded me to relax and enjoy some down time

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A Large-print edition of A Ship of Pearl published and ready for book clubs and libraries.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Two great leads on newspaper articles featuring people I can’t wait to meet.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Living in a microclimate and more gorgeous blooming. While most of them are gone, my lilacs are nearly full-bloom.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Home made chocolate chip cookies. This recipe brings back memories of the 10 year-old me learning to bake in the heat of the summer.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A water garden set for the summer. I still need a koi or two, but the pump and filter are running and the water lilies are ready for newborn frogs.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Miss K who interviewed me as “an old person I know.”  She had some mighty fine questions, some of which I had to think really hard.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] All the friends who “liked” my Facebook Page BlackTortoisePress.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Todd Green who agreed to make me a white on black logo.  He’s so talented.  I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A long weekend and Amtrak.  Yes!  A trip to see Mom and Brother is just around the corner.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Mr. D who just turned 16 and is so busy he barely had time to answer a happy birthday text.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A new compost barrel.  I thought I was getting compost, instead the whole barrel, courtesy of Ce
Ce.

[icon name=”sun-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A goodbye potluck to a wonderful Resurrection office manager. Gayle is one of those people who is like the sun: shining and bringing things to life everyday without fail.
