STEM Tuesday and NaPoWriMo

Today’s prompt:

write about money! It could be about not having enough, having too much (a nice kind of problem to have), the smell, or feel, or sensory aspects of money. It could also just be a poem about how we decide what has value or worth.

Okay, the prompt doesn’t fit very well with my mashup today. That’s a three-way mashup:  money-poetry-STEM.  What a challenge.

Fifty Cents of Jiggle

Pearl B. Wart in 1845 took hides
Soaked Oink in Acid, Moo in Alkalis.
Triple helix unraveled to re-tangle
Trapped water, formed globs without angle.
Adipic and Fumeric add tartness and bite
(same as PVC and fuming skin under sun's light)
Disodium phosphate makes tarter, adds stabilizers,
Volatiles trick tongue's five flavor sensors.
Man made Shock and Awe with rainbow colors
Sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar.
Why doesn't our tiny brains think clearer.
"It's fruit!" our heads want to believe,
Spruced up with carrots, strawberries, or maybe cream cheese.
Jay-Eee-double-El-Oh My.
Never far from the picnic on the 4th of July.
America's favorite dessert from a Tupperware mold.
Always room for Jello we're told.
