Style and Poetry

Today’s prompt:

The number 13 is often considered unlucky, so today I’d like to challenge you to beat the bad luck away with a poem inspired by fortune cookies.

Of course, for me, that silly game, adding “in bed” after each fortune, comes quickly to mind.  Coupled with some things about me and fashion, going to the BAM conference, and some new clothes from StitchFix.

Shopping is good for esteem (in bed)

New clothes for BAM in your dream (in bed)

Your need for quality fills you with lust (in bed)

A solid bargain is just a plus (in bed)

Trust your judgement with a little help (in bed)

New friends will give a happy yelp (in bed.)

You know me.  [tweetthis]I hate to shop. Still, I love nice clothes. [/tweetthis] Clothes that fit right and especially clothes that feel nice.  I love a bargain, but I really, really, love quality.

So… Stitch Fix might just be my new friend.  For a small fee, Stitch Fix assigned me my very own stylist, Cristina.  I told her my sizes, went through a virtual “yes to this, no to that, and a perhaps, here and there,” and we were on our way.  I told Cristina about my upcoming conference in Las Vegas.

I admit, I was a bit skeptical.  All the clothes in the “virtual honing in on tastes” seemed really young for me.  How was this going to work?  I mean, Stitch Fix is so stylish, and I’m so not.

I got the little box of clothes. My first Stitch Fix.

And a short personal note from Cristina.

What? These look like Grandma clothes.

Okay, yes I am a grandma. And, my very own Mom is excellent at zeroing in on clothes that look nice on me.  I mean, she has a sixth-sense about it.  She picks out things I’d never try on, and voilà, beautiful compliments follow.

So here I go.  Trying on the outfits.

OMGoodness! They all look great. Don’t you think?

The shirt has a little cap sleeve.  Just perfect for Vegas. Everything is light and breezy. The textures are wonderfully soft and rich colors. I do love color.

Although I can get shoes through Stitch Fix, I got these from my closet: GlitterFlops in the first pic (courtesy of my friend Pam at Over 50 Feeling 40, and the pink ones in the second pic are from Hotter.  Both are favorites of mine.

I kept two items and sent the others back.  The send-back is so painless. Just throw the outfits in the postal bag provided and drop them in the mailbox.

I can’t wait to see what Cristina sends me for Mothers’ Day.

What two items do you think I kept?  If you guess correctly, I’ll enter your name in a drawing to win a beauty prize.
