A five-year-old detained by ICE; evidence of slave trade removed from a National Park; Native Americans detained by ICE; a takeover of Greenland (or ally). These things distract me from even thinking of fun.
So, this prompt made me stop and think about the small things that bring me joy. Heck, I have more than five things. Here’s the top five that popped up in my consciousness.
Bicycling
Sure, not now. It’s too cold. But, just the thought of my hair blowing back in the wind while I coast downhill brings a mile to my face. I got an electric, pedal-assist bicycle last year to help me go up the hills and fight when I’m facing the wind. That makes bicycling even that much more fun.
Dancing
In the kitchen to oldies-but-goodies. In the gym Dua Lipa. With Love-one, slow dancing with no music at all. My heart feels lighter just thinking about it.
Puzzling
January is our jig-saw puzzle month. We conquered three this month: On from our baseball boys from Brazil, one from CeCe, and one that’s a vase. Yes, the Brazil picture came with a missing piece. Plus two extra pieces! Concentrating on a puzzle makes all other thoughts leave my mind as I try to find the fits.
Watching Josh Johnson
Even with my headphones on, Loved-One knows I’m watching him. He tickles me so. I especially love him talking about his childhood. How can anyone not laugh out loud?
Watching Movies
And oh, do I have a list of movies to watch this month. Each year I am to watch the Oscar nominees before the show. Why do so many get to the theatre in December and January? What a marathon it will be. I usually don’t like horror movies. This year two are up for awards. Sinners has a record-breaking number of nominations with 16 total.
What do you like to do for fun?
That was a nice distraction from the frigid weather and the distressing headlines. I’m going to click on over to the link above and see what other people have to say. Maybe I’ll find another fun activity.
