Here’s a bit of “Kawaii.” Awww.. Who doesn’t love a little puppy. Just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other and these two surely warmed my heart strings.

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. Created by Mental Health America started the awareness campaign in 1949 to provide Americans with tools and resources as part of their outreach program to improve mental health.This year the Theme is “You are not alone.”

What a fitting theme following a year of such aloneness for everyone. I think most of us can relate.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

Here’s a few things that delighted me this week:

Misunderstood song lyrics: Jimmy Falon has a #hashtag every Wednesday. This past Wednesday was #misheardlyrics. OMGoodness! How delightful. I laughed until tears ran down my cheeks. One of my favorite:

I had a friend who sang the line “That’s not lip service” from Alanis’ Head Over Feet as “That’s not his cervix.” HIS CERVIX I mean, there were a couple things we had to clear up that day. #misheardlyrics

@imkellyandrews

That one didn’t make the Tonight Show cut. Still, I laughed all over again when I saw what did make it to the show.

Coffee Dad: A millennial coworker started following @Coffee_Dad and every morning he’d taught at what Coffee Dad tweeted. Two years later, @Coffee_Dad follows no one and has 145,200 followers. What does he tweet? “sipping coffee,” “trying coffee,” “making coffee,” and once in a while something like this:

Do you think it is dark now? It has only just begun. Open your eyes.

@Coffee_Dad

I guess I just find it delightful that someone can get that many followers, following no one, tweet once a day, and only tweet about coffee. If you find out there’s something malevolent about @Coffee_Dad, please leave me in my blissful ignorance.

Dog introductions: Taylor never told her dogs her own name. The way they react put a smile on my face.

The more I look for things that delight me, the more I seem delighted. There’s so much in the world that makes me smile.

I hope you find delight this week.

I know it makes me feel better to jot down a few things to remind myself how much delight I have in my life.

My state now has over 53% of its population with at least one dose of vaccine. We are now officially in the bridge portion of Phase 5, “Illinois Restored.” I hope we know enough to stay safe until we get through this final lap.

We’re in the final battles. At least in this country. We have a ways to go for the world to get there.

On one hand that feels good. On the other, it feels a bit like I’m being asked to drive around without my seatbelt and to entirely depend on the airbags to protect me.

It’s okay to keep wearing a mask. In most environments anyways. Not only did I stay COVID-free, but I didn’t get the flu or even a cold. Maybe masks will be my new norm.

I hope this week brings you delight upon delight.

How about you? What absolutely filled you with delight this week? Please share. Chances are you will delight me!
