Monday Delights #39: Craft fairs, New Kittens, and Understanding

What delights you this week? Here’s a bit of “Kawaii.” Just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other. Today, it’s real baby because this infant with an old-fashioned babuska just lifted my heart. What delights you today?

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The prognosis and treatment is so much better than it was when I first became aware of the girls. Early detection is key.

Here’s a few other things that delight me this week:

Craft fairs: For someone who doesn’t like to shop, I am delighted how much fun I had. From crazy dog treats, to wreaths for every season, to lamps made out of old pipes to… Wait a minute… I bought some things for Christmas presents. Yes, what a delightful surprise.

It’s not even Halloween. Season-jumping is a no-no around here. Shh…. I think I might go to another one next weekend.

CoCo with Luna: She is soooo happy. That goes for Luna the kitten and for CoCo the daughter. It is truly a delight to see them together. And to hear CoCo talk about her new baby. Sometimes with a little impatience, sometimes with amazement, always with love.

Understanding: I’m not sure if it’s my own understanding or Love-One. But, I was sharing with Love-One my compassion for people who are afraid of the vaccine, or choose medical decisions based on moral convictions.

“We are all just trying to do the best with what we have,” I said.

Loved one pulled me in close and laughed. “Sometimes I just love the things you say.”

I laughed, too. I’m still not sure whether he thought I am compassionate or judgmental! Still, I, too, am trying to do the best that I can with what I have.

The more I look for things that delight me, the more I find delights. There’s so much in the world that makes me smile.

I hope you find delight this week.

The vaccination rate moved a tiny faction, so it now rounds up to 69%. My county reports a “very large” number of new cases and the ICUs at 110% capacity. Yikes! If these numbers don’t improve, we could be required to limit gathering sizes. We’re moving in the wrong directions..

Today, I understand hospital crowding. I am in a tiny room that should be for pre-op patients. Instead, it’s overflow because the hospital is over capacity.

Some people are too young, others are immune-compromised or have other medical issues. Let’s be neighborly and protect those that can’t get vaccinated.

I really look forward to the day that I no longer feel the need to update readers on this subject!

I hope this week brings you delight upon delight.
