What delights you this week? Here’s a bit of “Kawaii.” Awww… Another cute kitten.

Something in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

Today is the last Monday of the year. I thought about continuing through 2022. Then something happened that spurred me to take on a new challenge. I tell you all about it next week.

Today is “Lego Build Day.”

My born-to-be-an-engineer grandson, Mr. L loved Legos. He built so many intricate things. And so fast. My favorite has always been the train city in the movie, Elf.

Here’s a few other things that delight me this week:

A 3-year old’s hohoho: Christmas truly is for children. That said, grandparents get to delight in kids’ excitement. Christmas Eve, a curly-headed three-year-old spontaneous response to a pile of four brightly colored boxes for him: “Hohoho, there’s so many.” He ripped a thin strip off the first box and jumped for joy, “Paw Patrol. It’s Paw Patrol.” Oh my! This G-Mom is still delighted by the memory.

Couch potatoing: A cuddly blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and a movie partner. What could be more delightful on a cold night? Laughing together. realizing the joke, after Loved-One laughs out loud. Laughing first before he gets the joke. All so delightful. In case you wonder what movie we watched, Don’t Look Up. We plan to watch it again. Today I read a piece about the thought that went into costume design. I’ll probably watch it again just to pay attention to that.

A warm Christmas: I’m okay with no snow. In fact, a warm Christmas reminds me of one of my most delightful childhood memories. You can read about that memory here.

The more I look for things that delight me, the more I find delights. There’s so much in the world that makes me smile.

On the not-so-delightful side of things, Covid-19 cases are on the rise, followed by an uptick of deaths. We are reconsidering our holiday get-togethers. We both have vaccinations up to date, with boosters in the review mirror. Still, we find that in this little household of two, we have different tolerances for risk. Here’s a link that might help you make decisions. You can drill right down to the county level if you wish.

I hope this week brings you delight upon delight.
