My Favorite Places in My Village and Chicago

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite place to go in your city?

OOOOooo! Now that’s a tough one. I’m struggling with defining “my city.” The village that I live in. Or the city that I love to go to? What the heck. I’ll do both.

I live in a very tiny village.

We have no business district. We don’t have a school or church or a bar. So how can that even be a village? We do have a golf course. Maybe there’s a bar in the club. I’ve never been there, so I don’t know. We do have a village hall and two police officers who drive one patrol car. They take turns.

The village is so free of crime that the police officer follow the school bus in the morning and in the afternoon. Just in case. Parents always accompany their small children to and from the bus stops, so I wonder what crime the police plan to intercept.

My little village does have a park and a lake and lots and lots of hills. I like walking down the hill that leads to the lake. Most people drive to the lake because the hill is so steep. My walk takes me through the park to the lake. Here are some things I enjoy seeing on my way:

Then there’s the CITY. Chicago.

Close enough to call it my city, I suppose.

What’s my favorite place? I get excited just seeing the skyline. What about the museums? Or the theatres? What restaurant would I pick? So many places to look and see. I love the parks. I love just walking along the River Walk. And what about the Bean? And who can forget about riding the “El” around the city. Here’s some of my favorite things about Chicago:

I guess there’s a lot to love wherever I am.

What about you? What your favorite place in your city?
