Another Mystery Movie Night

I admit, these days I struggle to write. Every day it’s another “What the….” I’m distracted by chaos at the CDC, fears of the National Guard in my Chicago, or distress when ICE spirits away a woman at a court hearing for domestic abuse (the abused was taken not the abuser.)

So this week, I committed to three posts a week: Monday or Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. I decided to write about something fun, something sciencey, and something civic on these days. And, I’m already a posts behind and two days behind. That said,

Monday was Mystery Movie Night again! Loved-One and I went to a movie without knowing anything about it. Not even the title.

The perks of a Regal Theatre membership is Mystery Movie Night. We don’t know what movie we’ll see; not even the genre. But, we get tickets for $5 and a $7 beverage and popcorn deal for at 7PM Monday movie. For that, we get a sneak peak at a movie that will premiere sometime in the next month or so.

“I’ll be okay as long as it’s not a horror film,” I said this first time we went.

The Threesome was definitely not the kind of movie I would have picked. Yet, it was surprisingly good.

Oh my goodness. We both really liked this movie. We talked about it over dinner. Yes, it was a romcom, which we do like to watch on a Friday, let’s veg-out kind of movie night, but let’s not pay for it. Although much of the movie was rom-com predictable, there’s something more.

All the characters are basically good people trying to do the right thing.

There’s some good social commentary in there, too. Like how knocking up two women on the same night is a Booyah! for a man, but pretty humiliating for the women.

I like that the story is told without any nudity. Yeah! Contrary to what the trailer might lead you to believe, everything is left to the imagination. Remember when that was the norm? A lot of kissing under the apple tree and some rolling around fully clothed. So sexy.

Now back to the suspense of real life!

Oh yeah, and Josh Segarra adds a bit of delight to the whole movie. I first “met” Josh in “The Big Door Prize.” Sharing my delight below:
