I feel awash in the wake of national news that highlights leadership that seems out of touch with what everyday people need and want. 

On a local level, a family traveling home from vacation found their home reduced to twigs. It was as if the Big Bad Wolf blew their home away. Can you imagine?

The explosion damaged more than 50 other homes. Some became uninhabitable. One family’s landlord refused to refund their security deposit, leaving them homeless. Heartless?

Then the best of us rose to the surface. The local radio station, the Mayor, Salvation Army, McDonald’s, and people throughout the county came to the rescue.
