Gratitude Monday: Stop to Breathe

gratitude - 1
Miss S and I went for breakfast at our favorite restaurant.

Whoa!  I feel a little stressed this morning.  Wait! It’s already afternoon.  The weather remains mild. I have work that pays. My family is healthy. I have enough to eat and a cozy house.  Having too much to do is self-inflicted stress.  I did my daily reading and hurried through the briefest of meditations.  I met CeCe for yoga, and five minutes later wished it was over. So I tell myself, ‘just breathe.’  [tweetthis]It’s all good. Too much is more, not less. Count your blessings.[/tweetthis]

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A week with grandchildren: Miss E, Miss S, and Mr. C.  What wonderful kids. They practically take care of themselves.  All three climbed into bed before 8:30 and got themselves up and ready for school without a word of fuss.

[icon name=”rocket” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Rocket Clubs and newspaper assignments.  gratitude - 2Without the newspaper assignment I would never have met some fellow science geeks, saw adults and children bonding over rocket blasts, or met a new writer friend.  Wonderful.

[icon name=”heart” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Marching band competition.  The best $6.00 I’ve spent in a long time.  Good music, more time with grandchildren, beautiful weather, and a great apple cider donut.  Yay!

[icon name=”street-view” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Yoga. I felt taller, and more in tune with God and my purpose when I left the studio.

[icon name=”tree” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Fall colors. Some time over the past 24 hours, my surroundings transformed into reds and yellows and burnt orange.  The trees are gorgeous.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Bitmoji and Bonita.  She sent me some texts with figures that looked a lot like her.  With a little help, I have some that look like me.  Thanks Bonita.gratitude - 3

[icon name=”heart” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A Cubs win. Could it be that “Back to the Future Part 2″ got it right?  Could the Cubs win a championship?  Hope springs eternal.

[icon name=”ambulance” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Wrestler #1’s technical assistance.  I upgraded by OS, and ran into problems sending mail.  Wrestler #1 helped me fix it.  I’m so happy for his generous hugs, too!

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Friendly neighbors.  Oh, it’s always nice to have long chats and shared experiences.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] A daughter who likes to plan.  That’s CoCo.  She’s planning an Alaskan cruise for 2018.  Yes, she needs time to prepare and talk and prepare and talk.  Maybe the whole family will go.  I know I’ll be there.

[icon name=”heart” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Forgiveness.  I’m mourning a couple of mistakes in my newspaper articles.  I must slather myself in some forgiveness this week.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” un20121018-070638.jpgprefixed_class=””] Big belly laughs that bring tears to my eyes, shared with Loved-One, kids, and grandkids.  Silly little things like a  about peanuts vs almonds that we can all guffaw.  I’d tell you, but something would surely be lost between memory and keyboard.
Ahhhh! Taking time for a little gratitude is good for my soul.  If you’d like more lists, click some of the links below.
