Monday Delights #43: Blossoms, Luminaries, Fall leaves

What delights you this week? Here’s a bit of “Kawaii.” Just looking at cute things can help us feel more positive about each other. This is a photo of baby Miss K. Isn’t she just the cutest pupkin? What delights you today?

Something is in the air pushes me to focus on DELIGHT this year.

As a reminder of what delight can do for us, here’s a bit of inspiration from NPR.

Today is National Author’s Day. Let’s all call or write an author today and tell them how much we care.

Here’s a few other things that delight me this week:

A walk in the woods: Walking is so good for relationships, even when the relationship we have with our creator or ourselves. Crisp leaves in reds, yellows, and oranges are delightful. I especially like the amount of brilliant green that is still left this year. Here are a few of my favorite scenes I saw yesterday on my walk. Besides cycling down into the deadness of winter (blah,) I found a little bit of life springing from unlikely places.

Blossoms racing the frost: I’m watching these blossoms, slowly gain summer color as the leaves turn to a vivid autumn crimson. Will the blossom make it to a full bloom? Fingers crossed. I hope so.

Halloween Luminaries and decorations: It’s such an easy thing to do, and a spooky path for Halloween treats. Most years, we have a handful of trick-or-treaters. This year someone decorated a trailer and shuttles the kids all around the neighborhood. We got more than our fair share of delightful goblins begging for treats. Over the years, I substituted battery-operated candles for the kind you light. A can of tuna to weigh them against the wind, and we’re all set for the night. I have some other spooky decorations, too. A vulture on the shoulder of a dummy, some spiders, rats, and mice, a talking doormat, and some cat skeletons on the steps. Still, the most delightful of all is the luminaries.

Wait a minute. A Christmas picture sneaked in there. How delightful.

The more I look for things that delight me, the more I find delights. There’s so much in the world that makes me smile.

I hope you find delight this week.

The vaccination rate in my state moved a bit this week, rounding up to 70%. This is getting harder to track because more people are eligible now. The number for both deaths and illnesses is trending down.

Are we in the clear? I wish I could say yes. But still over 1r00 people dying every day. I remain cautiously optimistic.

My state still has a mask mandate, and for the most part, everyone complies.

I got my booster. Did you?

I really look forward to the day that I no longer feel the need to update readers on this subject!

I hope this week brings you delight upon delight.
