The Little Things: 2018-3

I’m a day late and for good reason. It’s been a marvelous, extended weekend. Mom visited me this weekend and, of course, I had to share.  My sister Bonita handed her off on Friday near I-90, so of course we had dinner and a little visit. Miss E insisted her birthday celebration included her great-grandmother (Buscia) and pizza. Kids, grandkids, friends, and Mom partied. Easter Sunday, church, and dinner at CeCi’s with more grandchildren and a birthday celebration for Miss K.  Monday another I-90 handoff and the obligatory vacation ice cream stop and visit to round off the “vacation.”  I am exhausted and very happy.  So is Mom.  She swears this is her last trip anywhere except to the grocery store and the doctors.  She just turned 90 and she quit her job at the Senior Center because it’s too boring.[tweetthis] Besides, Mom herself, I am extremely thankful for the genes she shared with me.[/tweetthis]

Here’s a few more things, in no particular order that cause me to pause and give thanks:

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Cadbury eggs.  I know I shouldn’t, but I love these decadent treats.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””]  April Fools jokes. The few I did pull were well worth the effort.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Grown grandchildren that take the time to visit.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Ham on Easter Sunday.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] My friend Joan, who recommended I join HomeTownReads.com

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Two April book signing events.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Old friends who stay connected.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] At last, skin that doesn’t itch.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Meeting the inspiring writer Patricia Pollaco. She didn’t learn to read until she was 14, and she’s a prolific writer.  Kudos to Patricia.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Fresh tomatoes in my aqua-garden.

[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Last but not least, connection of family members across generations and continents.  My nephew, Russ, who is in Rome, took the time to escort my grandson, Mr. D, and some of his fellow high school travelers around the city.  I love that the generations are connecting like that.
